Open a French Branch or Subsidiary

Bring your existing business into France — and your residence with it. A subsidiary, a branch, an appointed director, or the investor track — the same multi-year Talent card; what changes is how the file is framed. From €10,000.

For owners and directors of an operating foreign company opening a French structure, the Talent Passport carries your residence in with the business. The application reads close to the founder program — real activity, real investment, real demand — with the parent company as evidence the project is already proven. Three framings fit different situations.

01

A new French entity under your group

A French subsidiary or branch tied to your existing business. The file reads close to the founder program, with the parent company as proof the activity is already real and financed.

03

The direct-investment track

For a substantial investment — €300,000+ in fixed assets, an ownership stake, and jobs created or preserved. Bespoke by nature; the right structure is settled at the diagnostic, with the lawyer.

Which framing fits

Which one fits depends on your company, your role, and your numbers. The diagnostic settles it before any filing — with the lawyer in the room — so the file is framed the strongest way from the start.

Founding a new company instead?

If you are building a brand-new French company rather than expanding an existing one, the business-creation program is your page — same Talent card, a different application.

FAQ

Answers in the words you searched.

What is the difference between a branch and a subsidiary?

A subsidiary is a separate French company owned by your group; a branch is an extension of the foreign company itself. Both can anchor a Talent Passport — which fits depends on liability, tax and how you want the file to read. We settle it at the diagnostic, with the lawyer.

Can I move to France as the director of my own company?

Yes — as an appointed legal representative (mandataire social) of the group, the program asks a salary of at least three times the French minimum wage (about €67,000/yr) and prior seniority in the group. The card runs up to four years, renewable, with family included.

How much do I need to invest?

The direct-investment track is built around a substantial investment — around €300,000 in fixed assets, an ownership stake, and jobs created or preserved. It is bespoke by nature; the right structure is settled at the diagnostic. Figures are confirmed with our lawyer.

Is the residence card different from the founder program?

No — it is the same multi-year Talent card. What changes is how the application is framed, with the parent company as evidence the project is already proven.

Can my family come?

Yes. Your spouse and minor children receive the related Talent family card for the same duration, and your spouse has full work rights.
